Pros

Great culture. Fun, smart people. Great work life balance. Some interesting strategy projects. Growth potential. Culture where junior employees can speak to senior partners openly. Ideas are listened too from all levels.

Cons

Poor base salary. Bonuses paid out in thirds over the year to make you stay through the entire year. Some projects are horrible (change sourcing, staff aug, implementation, testing) promotions only happen because of tenure. Meritocracy is talked up but not practiced.

Pros

Pays market rate. Free drinks. Gets me out of the flat.

Cons

3rd job in my career and wish I hadn't moved to crapco.  Very short term view. No strategy apart from making as much money as possible for the company via any means. No high quality projects just bums on seats. Best jobs given to favourites.   Too much time on the bench. No career progression. A body shop. No investment in staff ie no interest in providing study packages only unaccredited internal indoctrination sessions.  Two faced dictator who only looks after his little cliché 2nd but his back 1st. High staff turnover with a number of good senior consultants and partners left in the last 6 months. Delusional,  self centred and arrogent management. Previous well respected management kicked out and rumours created about criminal behaviour spread about them to undermined and ruin them. Cult like environment,  where employees are called "the family" with a superficial "we love you, you are amazing" atmosphere. Those that don't buy into this are kicked out. Terrible HR who are slow, unprofessional  and unapproachable.  Regular work events after hours everyone is expected to attend so that he can have a stage to re-establish himself and his elevated position along withepropaganda. Non existent internal processes. Promotions and bonus' based on a mates basis.

Pros

Good healthcare benefits and salary; on par with other firms Nice NY office (can't speak to other locations but from what I hear they're VERY different; read: smaller) Open door policy and some interesting and fun people to work with. Partners generally approachable and trying to do the best for employees

Cons

Projects / projects / projects: Literally no projects at this company that require in-depth analysis or critical thinking. Most work happens on a handful of mega-large accounts that resemble nothing more than various levels of staff-augmentation for middle and back office jobs. No matter how much lipstick you're trying to slap on this, it's NOT consulting and never will be, regardless how you're trying to spin this. If you're (like me) thinking you will join a strategy & technology consulting company with traditional projects, please think twice!! You're in for a rude awakening and will likely be working on a large scale project for many many months / years. Lack of any back office processes / tools / staff: No knowledge management system, you're literally starting from scratch when getting on a new project. If you don't know who to ask, you're on your own. Lots of duplicate work and no efficiency No central processes and completely overwhelmed HR staff: people are simply trying not to drown in work but this is not the same as actively supporting the needs of the front-office consultants. No training to speak of once you're in the door (amazing for consulting firm!!). You're hired for the skills you have, not for your potential or what you could become. Lack of quality people: Growth trajectory of 30% YOY and lack of quality projects / reputation in the market place means HR and recruiting will say anything to get you in the door (see yours truly) and is not discerning when it comes to quality of new hires. You have a pulse, you're almost in. Work happy hours routinely (almost without fail) descend into unprofessional drunken revelry with employees getting out of hand, sick from all the drinking or displaying other unprofessional behavior... I leave the rest to your imagination
