Pros

Fellow staff are ok as are some of the lower managers. Staff discount comes in handy

Cons

Poor rates of pay, too much work for an ever dwindling night shift, no planning or forward thinking by senior managers. Over the top H&S when it comes to the FLT. 15 hour contracts are half way to zero hours and are a disgrace

Pros

I can't think of any pros to this job to be perfectly honest as I think about it. Oh the staff are nice people. You have a 20% discount card which has so many regulations your scarred to use it incase of dismissal! The 20% takes the price to a reasonable price as everything is so ott price wise. Also work this only works in B&Q not any other kingfisher owned store but the other kingfisher discount cards work there and you get the same discount??

Cons

No work-life balance even though they add it in the employee handbook for some reason? Don't help new starters, hold back people's progression to save pennies. If you like weekends off with your family then keep looking for another job. Management think bullying you is acceptable and that gets the best out of you! The minimum expectations one of which is do you care passionately about the store? Which is stupid as you slog your guts out break the law with no breaks or dinners because they're always understaffed have less than 11 hours between shifts but you still don't care, the real question is do they care about their employees?? The answer is quite obvious NO you are just a number to them.

Pros

good environmental values with regards to the environment, good for cv to work for a big name employer

Cons

Management bully staff into doing things, not cared about, values not upheld, no staff, inadequate training, no opportunities for growth, good work not recognized, customers complain regularly about staff, expected to have your life revolve around B&Q - if that is not your attitude you are treated like a traitor Any negative comments made about management are disregarded and you are labelled as having a negative attitude and management will seek to get rid of you Management openly say they are looking to get rid of people leaving employees fearing job security Very negative environment to work in resulting in unhappy employees Board visit last month and any employees talking to board members were vetted on what they could as in peoples forum meeting - Not conducive to giving upper management insight into what needs to change to make company better Injured my shoulder due to improper training and expectation to pull pallets of tiles in from service yard with manual pallet truck - said I expected B&Q to pay for physio and was threatened with the sack Put in a complaint against a manager for grabbing the back of my neck on numerous occasions - manager still works for B&Q Trolley dented my car in car park and had to fight tooth and nail even to get someone to check the cameras Have to develop a thick skin and an attitude to work for B&Q
