Pros

The physical elements of the role are not demanding. The canteen is well subsidised

Cons

Working weekends constantly with zero compensation for Saturdays and only £2 per hour additional for a Sunday. The shift change which was enforced equates to approximately £600 per month less in pay. There is no financial compensation for night work.

Pros

In the beginning when we were involved in building the store: - Jovial atmosphere, made lots of new friends - Good nights out - Plenty of hours - Great banter

Cons

Now here's where it gets really interesting, so 2 months in I personally found out one of the Supervisors had no background checks done, was actually a criminal who went on to steal from me and then threaten me. Waves of redundancies hit the store whittling down 80 workers to 20 - who were still expected to output the same level of work. Gossip ran riot and I was personally victimised by malicious rumours, as were other members of staff. Our work output never changed from start to finish but at around the fifth month we were given written warnings for no reason, my hours were cut from 40 in the beginning to 10 come the end, I was unable to break even on my bills and they simply did not care. It went from one of the best jobs I ever had to being an abomination, wrought with health and safety issues, a total lack of communication, constant chastising for little to no reason and the company itself is an embarassingly poorly run outfit. So many concerns for basic welfare and rights I couldn't ever recommend this job unless it was as a form of torture. Despicable people, despicable company.

Pros

There are no pros to working here.

Cons

Refusal to pay compassionate leave for death of a parent it basically tough, Do not care about if you suffer from depression / anxiety due to death of parent, asked multiple times to be given less hours due to stress and was told not their problem Won't pay minimum wage raises untill the next pay which can be anything up to 3 weeks later and won't back pay the difference. Management of all levels in store spend half day locked in office drinking tea and eating toast, refuse to answer assistance calls, complain about customers and staff, won't hire staff to cover shortfall then threaten to fire people because they care to complain. Christmas incentive - £10 towards to Christmas dinner or for those who can't go £10 store voucher (whatever the reason) comes down to it they refuse to give said voucher if your reason not good enough. Takes up to 6 months to get management to pay missing overtime.
