Pros

If you’re looking for a job after education but you’re looking around for a job in your sector, Aviva understand that some people use this job as a stepping stone. There are lots of gimmicks like fruit and veg Tuesdays, selection boxes at Christmas and Easter eggs.

Cons

Don’t confuse cheap gimmicks for caring about you. There is a real risk of burn out. When I joined they said “we don’t make redundancies”. At the time I didn’t realise that translates to “we will exhaust you and pressure you until you leave and we are only left with the best” Over covid there seemed to be some constructive dismissal with a cheeky changing their observation measures under the radar so people were managed out of the company. “We don’t make redundancies” I’m sure they keep their well educated and skilled staff well, but if you’re applying for a grunt role don’t let gimmicks fool you. Progression is slow.

Pros

Great corp responsibility, diversity and environmental policies. Home working

Cons

Employment benefits used to be a pro, but slowly they're being made average - under the guise of "in line with industry average". Average reward. No real ambitious or interesting projects or work (everything is cost saving)
