Stability in slow economy. Good career choices and good technological focus if you know the Microsoft platform very well. Good people to work with. Clear career advancement model. Good benefits including per diem and hotel / airline points if you don't mind travelling a lot.

Cons

Excessive travel, heavy lifting required for some projects. Below average compensation in some geo locations. Not enough incentives for overtime and exceptional performances. Below average employee referral program. Promotion guidelines are not clear enough to the employees.

Pros

Avanade provides the best of both worlds in terms of the typical big corporation/small company trade-offs. You get all the big corporation benefits from a multi-national corporation owned by Accenture and Microsoft. You also get the small company input and relationships from working within a regionally aligned company with typical a few hundred people per region. It's a great company to get plugged into early and make a career out of. They treat their employees better than anywhere I've ever worked in 12+ years in the IT industry spanning a half dozen or so employers.

Cons

You've got to be aware of the potential for travel and be willing to embrace that.

1. The internal and external training opportunities are great. We are second to only one other company in this area. 2. Smart people and things get done. There's not a lot of red tape. 3. People are empowered and communication is good. 4. We've been named by consulting magazine a best company to work for

Cons

1. The Work/Life balance could be a lot better here. A minimum of 55 hours/week is expected of us and most put in much more than that. 2. Compensation could be better 3. The way we are rated against each other to determine advancement 4. Our attrition numbers are down but it could still get a lot better.
