      Pros

      In a sales position you have the ability to manage your own schedule. American Express has a stellar reputation and brand recognition.

      Cons

      There is a strong management style, if you have a hunter personality you may find it hard to fit in with the corporate culture.

      Pros

      Great benefits, opportunity to gain valuable career experience in a variety of roles - an ideal place to start a career, many talented people, prestige of working for a company highly regarded[less so now] as "cutting edge" in its day.

      Cons

      Job secruity seems to be an anachronism. Like many large companies in the last 10+ years, management has moved to an out-sourcing model in many areas, especially in IT which makes everything "go" . The hoped for longterm efficiencies haven't been realized - phasing out/displacing functions in the west to outsource to an allegedly cheaper workforce. There's a serious knowledge drain no one seems to be doing anything about. This directly affects the quality of customer service which was the hallmark of this great company.

      the hours are manageable by comparison, and company recently reinstated 401 match, and there will be merit increases for this year

      Cons

      lack of exit opportunities outside consumer credit risk low salary little/no bonus heavy office politics long time to promotions rigid work place structure
