      Pros

      American Express hires very smart people that are energetic with a sincere willingness to drive change within the organization. Though times were challenging in 2009, the company made some tough decisions, but has done a good job of reinstating some of the previous practices. I am very pleased with Ken (Chenault) as CEO.

      Cons

      Though the company has made significant efforts to encourage alternative work arrangements, the culture has not truly embraced these which limits employees ability to progress. Upward movement is extremely challenging if you are not located in NY or willing to relocate to NY.

      Great benefits, 401k , dental, vision, vacation packages, downtime approvals, cafeteria, diverse environment

      Cons

      work schedules, must work one weekend day of the week (sat or sun), call center like schedule, excessive calls, back to back, short lunch break, calls are often long and very abusive, management is always breathing down your back, performance based tracking, no job security, you will never know when they fire you.
