Pros

they hardly ever fire anyone, if you don't step on the wrong foot and do an 'ok' job, you can linger here forever, performance reviews are a joke, targets are set low so anyone can do it, from the technical skill point of view it's not a demanding job at all + you have a lot of free time

Cons

very political, people are secretive and backstabbing, always 'escalating' issues (shifting blame on someone else), unable to communicate directly about anything at all, many are building their own 'empires', others go there just for the paycheck, and no one really gives a damn about the work or really solving issues, they are usually nice but it's often just a facade, the more senior the worse

Pros

Stable & secure Almost no overtimes

Cons

- Amadeus is the center of everyone's lives - people spend work-time at Amadeus, after work they spend time at home alone, or they meet Amadeus friends, and at parties they often talk about Amadeus stuff. - It's like a high-school. People are old enough to have families but many act quite immature and definitely they're not the people that can inspire you and push you forward, more like pull you down with their petty jealousies and drama over non-issues. - Living there and working there is amazingly boring. There's literally nothing exciting happening. Nowhere. Go there if you want to relax and do nothing. - Technology is old, in-house, and although I was a developer it felt very bureaucratic. Core system developers almost don't write code and create anymore, just fix bugs and 'tune'.

Pros

I have read the reviews below and I would like to confirm most of the opinions: - idyllic landscapes - outstanding weather - no one cares if you work, or you don't - calm place to spend your retirement, or die - I am not working there anymore

Cons

- I gave a star only because of the weather and the nature around, professionally Amadeus doesn't deserve even for one star - My team was considered as the most innovative one in the whole company... as we were the only team with mouses with three buttons (sic!) - the politics is everywhere, you won't make a career without politics - anyway you won't make a career if you are not french - the technical path contains two levels (out of fifteen!), so if you won't to progress technically, no chances. A yeah, it's level 6 and 7 - I agree with the comment below, that the management lays to you and don't treat you seriously. - you can't just go and say "hey man/girl, you did it correctly, however there could be some improvements", they will inform manager - people are horribly immature and ridiculously fallen in love with themselves - technically the level is below the bottom of the Mariana Trench - the strategy of team leaders is not to make the whole team aware of what's happening. Instead they like repeating the sentence "Keep it for yourself", what leads to gossip and making people feeling better than the rest - The tools are completely internal, no chances someone outside company knows them - Lot's of guys just after studies, anyone who is clever enough leaves as soon as realizes his mistake, or gets fired if tries to bring the progress - They don't like active people, the best, if you sit and don't talk, if you are active and trying to introduce i.e code reviews, you bring troubles - Yes, there is no code review, no coding standard (except amadeus names), methods have thousand of lines and it's not a joke - No help from the team, when you are a new comer, the get annoyed when you bother them - As mentioned before, even on team meetings, department meetings, they may switch to french without taking care of the non-french - I have 6 years of experience and I never found myself as a Senior Engineer, as I am perfectly aware of the lacks of my skills and knowledge. However most of people in Amadeus, can't call themselves even Engineers, although they find themselves as a computer science stars - In my team, the Senior Manager had a favorite guy, after a Grande Ecole, who was just average, however he was doing nice politics and speaking french, so he was representing the team in most of the meetings outside the company - they decided to measure the quality of software... by introducing a survey containing up to 20 chapters, each of several dozen of questions. When I mentioned to my team leader, that it doesn't make sense as no one is gonna be honest, he asked to be honest. So I was. Then my team leader asked me to be less honest and redo the survey, as it makes our team looking bad - they talk a lot about culture, about behavior and attitude... and they just talk - it is very hard to socialize with people, if you don't come with your family you will mostly see Amadeus people at work and outside (and I used to be a very social person with numbers of friends) - your projects may collapse, not compile, whatever... but you need to smile and pretend everything is ok... You don't want to ruin the image the Senior Manager built around your team? Yeah I had a chat with my Senior Manager, when I had to describe outside my team, the drawbacks of the legacy project (iwe couldn't compile it at all!). The chat was about the bad image I created... even inside the company.
