Pros

Situated in Sophia - Antipolis, you will work in a beautiful and well maintained landscape. Generally speaking its a quite relaxing atmosphere, meaning that you are not pressured to start at 09:00, I've seen people starting as late as 10:30! There is an onsite restaurant which adds up to the convenience of not having to travel to eat somewhere else. You will get to meet people from many countries. Like in any other social environment there are interesting people and backstabbers. Watch out for the latter, cos they seem to be congregated in Amadeus more than in other larger enterprises.

Cons

I worked at Les Templiers and throughout my time there, I've seen almost all departments, except from Hotel, however I had a few good colleagues there where we could share our experiences. It was a frustrating experience for me since I was moved from one team to another every 6 months because of "budget cuts", meaning that I was a newcomer several times there. The good aspect I suppose is that in the end I knew almost everyone in Les Templiers since I worked with so many people...ok thats a good thing, not Cons :) Projects: Hmm... not particularly interesting (at least for me I have 10 years of experience and worked with interesting domains), especially when you deal with the most terrible and spaghetti code of 50,000 lines contained in each class. People seem that they have absolutely no clue about design patterns and once when I presented a factory pattern, they looked at me as if If I committed a crime... They asked me "what is the point of creating a new small class which only has a few methods?". "We don't create new classes here just for the sake of creating them and we definitely don't allow developers to create pointers!"...What? you are using C++ and its not allowed to create pointers? What is the point of using C++ then? Later on I found out that the framework they created was just a horrible piece of junk that even the most senior Amadeus staff developers hated it !! Higher management has lately invented the word Agile Scrum and they think that the technical-debt will disappear magically. I don't blame them. They are fashion victims. If you ask any decent developer will tell you in the end that it will still be a "PTR-Driven developement". I stole this term from a really good engineer that I worked and he was recently fired by his senior manager (its she, in fact, will call here Madame "She" for the time-being)...will get into that senior manager problem a bit further.. Attitude: There is a serious bad attitude there. Very very serious.. It basically maintains a toxic environment and the opposite. After a while you become toxic as well. You become unsociable, unhelpful an all the un...s. The problem starts from the head. The Senior is toxic enough to create a clique of toxic trusted team leads who will do whatever it takes to maintain psychological fear, which is hidden behind their friendly faces. The team leads will have 2-3 trusted staff devs, some of them have a big nose about themselves and their skills. <= These are the ones you need to watch out for ..be very-very careful. Backstabbers, evil and manager-wannabees, boot-lickers and they adore telling you off for every single thing. A small story now, I'd like to share :).... One day in the department of Senior "She" in Les Templiers, the team leader asked me for a personal meeting. He announced to me that unfortunately because of budget cuts I had to be transferred internally to another team within the same department. Don't worry he said.. its only because of cuts Madam "She" is doing. **I am personally very happy about your performance**. So, I went off to my 3rd new team, along with another fine engineer. Two months passed and my mission was terminated again for budget cuts and performance issues.. When the opinion of the team lead was asked again by the senior ... he back stabbed and lied that there was indeed a performance issue. So careful. Backstabbers are everywhere there. Senior managers: In the department of "She" I think that there is already a sense of dictatorship. She actually dictates and there is a general feeling that she hates foreigners as well.

Pros

- a perfect place for brainless, lazy people, that blindly follow management decisions - the weather - I left the company!

Cons

- highly political environment - the culture and values are only on the posters in the wall - if you have no personal life and willing to spend most of your time in Amadeus you may like it - the area is a province and the same about people mentality, you won't make any new friends outside Amadeus - I am not affraid of use the word "racism" - not french, no grande ecole, don't speak french - if you miss on of those features you are going to be treaten as a slave - Technical expertise is not a case. The non technical people decide about technical solutions - It's absolutely true that active people are considered as trouble makers - A friend of mine was fired as he disagreed with the management decision and didn't want to follow their idea, that was simply stupid - Actually the situation happened twice within the time I worked there - The univeristy students should be taken here for a trip to show them how a bad company looks like - You feel like the time stopped here. In 70's - They literally have a survey contained of several hundreads question and ask devs to fill it to evaluate the project quality. However no testing, code quality, code review, design patterns, etc. - You can't criticise anything, you just swim in the mud of bugs, old technology, stupid ideas, skilles people and every approach of trying to improve the situation ends up in your manager office as you complain and don't show enthusiasm - To sum up: this place is sick - it might be crazy to find another job, if you don't have any other project to follow. After fixing bugs in a spaghetti code, you simply forget everything - numbers of newly graduated people that never worked anywhere before and think the situation is normal. What's worst they quickly adapt to Amadeus standards - the product definition people are... forget. I can't say anything without using a word that is not rude

Pros

You definitely won't work yourself to death here.

Cons

Often I had to ask myself if these people are for real. Most are really incompetent - not just uneducated but also immature, acting like 15 year-olds. A lot of them have serious attitude problems, especially the younger ones. Yet they pretend to be professional and think so highly of themselves. I have a degree from an very good university and a few years of international work experience, but here I was treated like a dumb child. Not just they regularly refused to consider my expertise but I was outright disrespected and even yelled at on several occasions. All they do most of the time is talking about others. Moreover I didn't grow anywhere professionally and the French Riviera sucks for any kind of socializing, except if you like meeting the same people over and over again. Really, the worst decision in my career was to take the job at this company.
