Solid but a bad industry

Business Outlook

Pros

Good first job out of college with clear career progression. The people are great to work with and the office is fun. Commission while difficult on slower months is achievable if you put in the hours needed to do so. (55 hrs is a realistic work week)

Cons

Expert Networks are a tough and honestly unpleasant industry to work in. Hyper competitive both internally and amongst competitions, ludicrous requests from clients on unrealistic timelines, and management internally that encourages borderline harassment of the experts within the network. These things all come together to make the overall industry just a pain to work in. They use a lot of buzzwords aka Knowledge economy to make you feel like you are doing some amazing thing for the world where in reality, you work at a call center to find ways to convince industry professionals to take time out of their day to help your clients when there is no guarantee they will get picked for the project or canceled on 5 minutes before a call is meant to take place.

Inhumane place to work

Pros

The pay and insurance is good

Cons

The company has an EXTREMELY TOXIC culture. you are expected to work like a robot without having any feelings. Literally anything you say will be held against you. Not a single member of the management believes in 'work-like balance. Lol infact the company emphasizes on 'work-life harmory'. from the CEO's very own words - "there is no such thing as work-life balance, it is a hoax created by the people during the pandemic because they needed something to talk about, work like balance does not exist". The chant 'feedback culture, feedback culture' , but you will never receive any direct feedback, instead it will be shared behind your back and to your manager. There is no sympathy towards any employee and you are expected to work day and night without uttering a single word. they hire and fire like people's livelihoods are a joke. extremely inexperienced managers without leadership qualities and no backbone to support their team members.

I appreciate you leaving your thoughts. I understand that the hours are not your average 9-5, but because we work in client service we must ensure that we put our clients first. This then allows us to put our employees first by offering competitive remuneration and well-being support. Our associates become managers ~5 years earlier than elsewhere, as we empower them from an early stage. We provide them with the autonomy to succeed in their roles, and can trust them to effectively coach a team as we provide them with the support and training they need. Empathy is one of our core company values, and we live and breathe it day in and day out. Yes, you have to be ambitious to succeed here, but we know the importance of celebrating our collective successes as a firm. I apologise we weren't the right fit for you, and I wish you success in your next endeavor. - Many thanks, Gabriela, CMO

Immature, Sorority culture

Pros

Good first job, build basic business accumen

Cons

This place is like working full time in a frat/sorority house. Very immature and gossipy culture. You are literally being managed by people barely a year older than you...They also expect you to work very long hours and take fresh college grads and burn them out.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are not the average 9-5 business - like many professional services roles, we offer talented individuals a high-performance environment, which often comes with working longer hours where client projects require it. We offer competitive benefits packages, which include generous time off allowance and wellness, as well as connectivity perks to ensure our employees have time off to rest and recharge. Outside of this, our financial compensation package consists of three elements: base salary, incentive pay, and company growth plan, which is designed to reward personal revenue impact. Regarding your point around management - we offer our managers the unique opportunity to gain responsibility early in their careers. They are continually learning and optimizing their people management skills both on the job and through our training and professional development programme. A final and important point to note, we do not condone the workplace environment you mention, and I would encourage you to reach out to me or our HR team to discuss your feedback in more depth. I wish you well in your new role and thank you for your contribution to AlphaSights during your time with us. Thanks, Sean, COO
