Pros

Ahead of more pointed notes to follow, sharing a few precursors is only fair. If there is one thing AlphaSights markets correctly, it is that it does hire great people. For the most part, I genuinely enjoyed being around the folks I worked with, and I made many great friends that I’ll keep for years to come. AlphaSights also offers a competitive salary for a first job out of college (Does that make it worth it? Read on and decide for yourself).

Cons

AlphaSights’ business model depends on recruiting new college graduates whose unassuming enthusiasm to join the workforce allows them to be lured into this role which leaves much to be desired. The nature of the work is mindless, repetitive, and devoid of intellectual challenge to the point that most flee prior to, or very soon after, making it a year as an associate. Those who remain and become managers are the few left standing who consumed enough of the AlphaSights Kool-Aid to make it that far. They say the proof is in the pudding; simply compare reviews left by managers verses associates and you’ll quickly notice a pattern. Highly skilled “rats on a treadmill” work is not sustainable for college graduates, or anyone for that matter. Universities worth their salt—and AlphaSights employees indeed hail from strong institutions—instill the imperative that our lives and our life’s work ought to nurture our curious minds and fulfill our creativity and self-expression. Realistically, few—if any—jobs will completely satisfy this mission, but the work at AlphaSights is so dreadfully beyond the pale it cannot be underscored enough. Relentlessly monitored monthly/weekly/daily targets and incessant volume tallying is antithetical to what the learned person should aspire to do. AlphaSights loves to fall back on the it’s classic line, “this job isn’t for everyone.” It’s a cheap ploy, and it won’t be surprising if those very words make an appearance in the company's response to this post. I can only recommend this job to you if you are relentlessly commercially motivated, willing to perform menial work to no end, and enjoy being measured by intense productivity metrics. In short, prepare to become a robot of sorts.

We're glad you enjoyed our vibrant community and made many lifelong friends here. We appreciate hearing about those experiences! Repetition within the associate role provides the ability to improve and build expertise over time. We reiterate that this role isn't for everyone for the sake of transparency; we want to be clear that the associate role is recommended for individuals who are relentlessly commercially motivated, metrics-focused, and dedicated to achieving measurable success for their clients and themselves. We're disappointed that this job was not a good fit for you, and we wish you all the best. - The AlphaSights Team

Pros

You can work any time, anywhere.

Cons

I suspect they get a lot of turnover at the management level, for the grading system seems inconsistent and ever-changing. The QA graders often make mistakes which lower my score. I have to bring this up to management to get my score fixed. I came from another company as a QA grader and transcriptionist and I know how much research goes into these projects. Not enough time alloted for TRs to 1. Format their page. 2. Research the industry. 3. Relisten to difficult accents, terrible audio quality and mumblers. 4. Proofread and go over any questionable terms. It would be nice if the interviewers didn't speak over the advisors and also list terms in the interaction details that we need, such as foregin companies and industry-specific jargon.

Pros

The starting salary for a London associate is £40,000 for the first year and £42,000 in the second, which is reasonable if you stick to the standard working hours (8:30 AM - 6:30 PM). The work environment varies depending on the team you join, but my colleagues were supportive and very helpful. The office facilities feature two well-stocked kitchen and a workplace experience team that goes above and beyond to keep everything running smoothly. They also organize fantastic events and parties, adding a fun and engaging touch to the workplace.

Cons

Working here often means staying very late, not just until 9 PM but sometimes until 11 PM, 1 AM, or even 2 AM. Managers seem to embrace this, smiling as they make you start again at 8:30 AM the next day without any consideration for your well-being. The company’s "client-first" mindset means your health, personal plans, or social life are irrelevant—projects must be completed whenever your manager deems fit. Deadlines are treated as flexible but only in a way that squeezes employees to work faster, often at the expense of their mental and physical health. Micromanagement is a real issue, with managers promoted for their ability as associates to generate cash for the company rather than their leadership or soft skills, leaving inexperienced managers to oversee equally young and inexperienced graduates advising large-scale private equity clients. The offboarding process is deeply disrespectful. You are abruptly told it is the last day, escorted out of the building by a manager, and denied the chance to say goodbye to colleagues. My belongings were packed without care, resulting in personal items going missing, while trash and even a stranger's shoes were included in my bag. The advertised salary model is misleading, as achieving the high wages is incredibly difficult. If your manager offers a client a discount, that amount comes out of your compensation, regardless of your input. I strongly advise against taking up a role here as the role you are applying for might not be the role you end up doing.
