Pros

The company culture is incredibly collaborative and somehow every single person at AlphaSights is hardworking and kind. The recruiting team does an impressive job of hiring supportive, friendly and ambitious individuals. I don't know of many other jobs right out of college that give you the amount of responsibility and exposure that the Associate role here does and it makes for a great career foundation. You have the opportunity to see your direct impact on the growth of the business and there are comprehensive trainings in place to help with the learning curve.

Cons

If you are applying, be prepared to work consecutive long hours in this role. Along with a client-first mentality comes an always-on lifestyle. With the great amount of responsibility this role offers, you will have to put in the time and effort to meet your sales/ client management goals. The bright side to this is you'll likely never be bored and will always be challenged - so if that's what you're looking for this role is for you!

Not as advertised: Linkedin and Cold Calling.

Pros

Compensation can be good if you are in the right team. Great (not professional) environment and friendly colleagues. Made good friends! Young workforce.

Cons

0 Exit oppportunities. Poor people managers. They are elevated simply for their sales performance, and they rely on p2p training. Problem is: managers who volunteer to lead trainings are usually the worse. Boring and tedious tasks: Linkedin and Cold Calling. If you hope to learn anything about an industry, do not work here. Most of the VPs are there just for tenure, but they have no idea what they are doing. Industry growth is still good, so they keep their seats for now. Turnover very high given poor managers. No challenges but high pressure on results, which often are given by external factors.

Great & Getting Better

Pros

Exposure to lots of different industries - In the Client Service role, you will get exposure to a wide variety of industries and it's up to you to capitalize on that. While some may view the role as "monotonous", those people simply aren't engaging their brains. If you get hired, you are A. smart and B. hard working. If you engage those assets to the job, you will learn a ton about every industry from experts who have been in their industries forever. That’s extremely valuable and decidedly not boring. Amazing people - The team at AlphaSights works hard, plays hard and supports each other. Rarely will you find a company or group of people so strongly invested in each other’s mutual success. Across levels in the company, I have built lifelong connections and go-to people that I can engage with for the rest of my career. Incredible growth opportunity for those who perform - If you bring your A-game, you will be recognized and rewarded. End of story.

Cons

Chips on shoulders - Young associates, while extremely smart seem to have high opinions of themselves and expect to be "gifted" promotion and mentorship from the company. The most successful associates and managers have the smart + humble combo, and bust their butts to find mentors inside and outside of the business. As an outgoing manager who worked hard for what (s)he got, it was extremely frustrating when new associates expected promotions or mentorship simply to be handed to them. Growing Pains - While title changes and restructuring are part of any company’s evolution, the short term pain is always frustrating. If you’re able to see the bigger picture and actually listen what management is saying to you, it will pan out.
