Not enough focus on development of people in their roles, instead Abbott is focused on marketing themselves and their workers. They needed to market their Intern program to themselves internally, and excessively... Something isn't right there. Instead of having interns go into something resembling a corporate summer camp for children, you should ensure that they are focusing on what they will be working on/doing in the future. Very disorganized, and the amount of work and expectations for employees to complete work related duties beyond their actual working hours was not reasonable for the pay. Team building should not overshadow actual work, but it very much so does, and the team building feels very forced and condescending to the employees, rather than something they would actually want to do. Overall, it felt very culty to me. Departments were disorganized and lacked communication, there was excessive travel, and it felt as if they were trying to market a career in their company to me rather than actually provide an experience that focused on what I signed up to do. Very narcissistic culture. WIth the amount of money going through their company they should be able to do better. No insurance over the summer from a healthcare company is ridiculous, especially for how much they try and emphasize how we matter, and that we are the future of the company.
