I applied online. I interviewed at MetLife in Aug 2023
Interview
Entire interview lasted 5 minutes. The interviewer opened with what is your expected salary. As I tried to explain to her that there is no way to answer that question until I have a full understanding of the scope of the job and full compensation package. She proceeds to tell me she cannot proceed without me giving her a number. Again, I attempted to explain that this is not a reasonable expectation at this point. She tells me that I need to give her a range and that if the range falls somewhere within their numbers I will ultimately be offered the lowest number in my range. They will proceed with no one who is not in their salary range. Apparently regardless of their qualifications. This job was for a seasoned professional with a Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience. I gave her a low number (more because I am now intrigued to see what question number 2 is) and she tells me this is way too high. I immediately withdrew my application. This is a major fortune 500 company! I am still speechless. Not only would I never work for them, but I would now never purchase one of their products.
