I applied online. I interviewed at Hinge (New York, NY)
Interview
Overall bad experience. Hinge ghosted me, the interviewers will string you along in the process, lots of effort for nothing. The other interview reviews are spot on about the process. Only do this for practice at most.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Take home, statistical and machine learning questions, Python Leetcode, open ended business case, cultural question regarding their values
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Hinge
Interview
The phone screen process began with a discussion of the role which was was unclearly defined as it was explained that this was IC role with management responsibilities. There was some discussion about the amount of analytics vs ML work this role entailed.
I was asked a SQL question and two to three statistics/ML-based questions. There was no build up in the SQL question and it expected the user to dive directly into advanced analytic window function concepts. Likewise, the statistics questions were posed in a quiz-like fashion (e.g. there was no case study and questions were unrelated to one another).
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Given a table named employees which contains columns employee_id, last_name, first_name, salary, department and another table, employees_projects, with columns employee_id and project_id, with a query to select the top two employees alphabetically per project, where alphabetically means ordered by last_name and then first_name.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hinge (New York, NY) in Jun 2020
Interview
Initial call with recruiter. He goes over your resume and describes the company culture.
Second call talking to mobile engineer director. Go over resume. Told recruiter is going to follow up on next steps.
Never heard from them. I appreciated meeting people but it seems disrespectful to leave a candidate, especially since it goes against your self described culture of transparency.
