The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax in Aug 2011
Interview
After filling out the online application I was contacted a month later by email. I was asked to fill out around 15 questions and email them back and also fill out another online application. These were all classic screening questions making sure your not completely worthless before they waste more time on you. A week after this i was asked for a phone number for a phone interview, which I had the next day. The phone interview consisted of some situational questions and description of the job and a little other small talk. Very easy going. I was told that she would contact the store managers and get back to me within 5 days. A little more than a week later I was emailed about setting up a face to face interview in the store. I showed up at 11:45 (15 minutes before my appointment) fully prepared only to find out the the guy I was suppose to meet was at lunch and wouldn't be back until 12:30. When he finally came back I had to go through this computerized interview process, which mainly consisted of criminal background questions and 15 different ways to ask if you've done drugs. Next I sat in a room with a guy who asked the excited same questions I had just answered on the computer. After waiting in the lobby for a while 2 guys came and took me into a room and asked me a bunch of mundane situational questions for a list (tell me a time when...). I was then told that they were going to talk and for me to wait in the lobby. A while later 2 more guys came and the exact same thing happen with the questions worded different. This repeated again with 2 more people. I was then told they would be in touch. The interview lasted 3.5 hours. I was contacted by email 2 days later telling me it wasn't going to work out.

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax in Dec 2010
Interview
The interview was conducted at a job fair. You would first undergo a background check and they will ask questions about your previous workplace. They indicate that they check your tax returns and value integrity on your job history. After that has been completed and confirmed you will meet with managers from other departments other than the position. Once you have passed that panel you will then interview with a Senior Buyer and Purchasing VP. After the final panel you will take a serious of IQ tests. After completion of tests you will do a drug test onsite. The interview process can take between 3-6 hours.

Question 1
Name a time that you coordinated a sales event and what was the outcome?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at CarMax in Jul 2011
Interview
I applied online, then received a phone call from recruiter about a week later, I returned phone call right away( got no answer) so I called every day for a week and then got an email stating the position had been closed but it wasn't even in the right state! (So basically I was being ignored) I instantly got a phone call, and was interviewed on the spot. I was asked a little about my background, why I wanted to work there, what I knew about the company...then the recruiter told me she would call me back in a few days to do a behavioral interview which consisted of 5 questions. After that a week later I got a phone call saying they wanted to interview me... I went into the interview fully prepared. I first took a questionnaire about stealing, criminal history and basic background information. Also you fill out consent forms about background checks, driving record and social security records . I interviewed with two people about the position they asked me about 10 behavioral questions. After that I interviewed with two more people same thing about 10 more behavioral questions same type of questions different ways of being asked. After that I took a drug test, and did a personality test, and what seemed like the SAT'S (an intelligence test) horrible!!!! I was there for 4.5 hours total. They walked me through the job of what I would be doing to get an idea which is just basically appraising cars. A week or two later I got another call that I was to interview with the VP. At this point I was pretty confident I had gotten the job and figured this last interview would be easy. I was wrong. I walked back into the same grueling interview. Another hour of the same behavioral questions with the VP and another manager. Only two weeks later to find out they had went with another candidate. So basically 6 hours of my life I can never get back.
Interview process was like this:
Fill out application
Personality Test
Chat with recruiter
Behavorial questions with recruiter
1st interview which included:
Intelligence test
background/SS consent forms
drug test
questionnaire
2 on 1 with a set of managers (behavioral questions)
2 on 1 with another set of managers (behavioral questions)
2nd interview:
2 on 1 w/ VP (behavioral interview questions)
Not sure if I left anything out.. It wouldn't have been so BAD if so much time didn't lapse in between conversations and interviews. Also the recruiter told me if you have questions or concerns or anything just call but EVERYTIME i called she ignored my calls until she wanted to talk to me. It took 2 months and 6 hours of my life, and I am more than qualified. I would think twice about this one, if you have time to waste than go for it!
