Pros

Assigned to another location where I designed for another company with a great deal of autonomy. I was a very rare exception that none of my 50+ Xerox co-workers were able to enjoy. Their biggest complaint was their frustrations of being micro managed. I learned from outside source about learning opportunities inside of Xerox. So if you dig, figure out how they work and are very proactive, you can gain much. Use Xerox as a stepping stone. Learn from them. Gain experience, then move on to a company/corporation that respects your worth.

Cons

Over EIGHT YEARS without any raise in pay. Xerox switched over 10K employees from one Xerox division to another Xerox division in order to take away two paid holidays (one being the day after Thanksgiving) and some health benefits. They also switched my job title from Designer (10+ yrs) to a Specialize Print Manager -- claiming that the new Xerox division didn't have that job title, but as soon as they update, they will change. Many contacts with management & HR with no luck. They never did change. If they were to change, by their own pay scale, they would have to up my annual pay by over $17,000. So they just kept playing games. HR and management worked in tandem.

Pros

AOT has some of the best people that work there. You will be sure to make some lifelong friends along the way. A career at AOT will set you up nicely for whatever future sales track you want to take. It’s a great stepping stone for other types of sales positions or if you want to work your way up through the company you are able to do that too and be successful.

Cons

While AOT does a great job hiring most people they haven’t don’t the best with placing some of their Sales Managers. In the past, they have promoted people to Management who weren’t ready and would lead by fear and micro-management rather than by leadership and mentoring for their employees who were generally new to sales. That in turn has caused a lot of turn over in the past year. Copier Sales is also a very saturated market and there are some unrealistic expectations for the sales team.

Xerox Response

Thank you for your review! I'm glad you are seeing we have terrific people and believe there is a good carrier path and future. We prefer to promote from within when possible. I'm curious about your comment about Sales Management and would welcome more open face-to-face conversation about this. We certainly don't endorse leading by fear and will make corrections if it is happening. Employees who have left in the past year have gone out of their way to say very positive things about their sales managers in their exit interviews. That doesn't mean there isn't a problem, it's just confusing. With regards to the competitive market we work in, yes it is very competitive out there, but Arizona still has a lot of opportunity and is growing. Every day we run into companies that are unhappy with one of our competitors. We work hard to hire and train the best possible employees to uncover opportunities and show potential customers why AOT is the best company to choose.
