Glorified Sales Job

Pros

I have some great coworkers to commiserate with.

Cons

As a Personal Banker the pay is insulting. It's one dollar more than what the Tellers make, but one hundred times the work. You will be a banker, a teller, a notary and an LMO. You will also be expected to do lobby engagement even when nobody is in the lobby. You will also be assigned multiple control tasks every month that add additional work. It feels like I'm doing 5 jobs but only getting paid for one. It's unbelievably stressful and overwhelming every single day. Customers treat you like dirt on a daily basis. And management will push you to meet "goals" which is just another term for sales. I don't think many people understand how much of a sales job this really is. I certainly didn't. You're also expected to make outreach calls to customers every single day. Sales. Sales. Sales. I absolutely dread going into work and feel absolutely defeated by the end of day. Horrible way to live.

Pros

Relatively decent work life balance. Management focus on new tools and technologies. Good career path if you want to be in an IC role only.

Cons

Very strict work from office policy. Poor working hours, if based out of India. There can be late night calls with the US partners. A culture based on threatening the employees to get things done. Relatively strigent criteria for even getting the ‘meets expectations’ rating. Less than satisfactory salary hikes and bonus. Deadlines can be pretty tight at times.

Dead place to work

Pros

Work-Life balance - One can become useless working at Wells Fargo India. You will get regular salary hikes and if you are ready to be a stooge to the manager, you will get promotions too but at the end you will die a slow death professionally and morally.

Cons

Wells Fargo India has become a dead place to work. Right from managers to senior technical staff most are in survival mode, they have no interest in Technology, just save the Job and earn salary. I have seen many ugly trends developing at wellsfargo - Ideas purposefully sidelined to slowdown automation, Caste bias, over importance to Gender parity etc. Another worst change that happened is, wellsfargo stopped being wells Fargo but a copy cat of JPMC, If JPMC does it, Wells Fargo Technology too will do it, doesn't matter if it's required or suitable. No transparency, No Accountability at Manager level, HR is invisible across the organisation. Senior management setup townhalls and meetings just to make their presence felt with useless and boring presentations. I can list many...but waste of my time. Basic ettiquete not followed at work place, a noisy work place where any work that requires focus is impossible to do. Most of the noisy discussions are not about work or Technology.
