Pros

-Only if you like IT topics and want a mediocre career -Sometimes you get to travel internationally in a middle economy seat and stay at hotels where people have been robbed in Paris -Pay for your phone bill every month

Cons

First, this is NOT a management consulting firm. They recruit/blatantly lie to top schools by catfishing students into miserable IT careers with ZERO exit opps. Second, the NYC office is always in the red, so job stability isn't good, and you have to do a lot of extra work outside of a consulting scope (cold calls, using your LinkedIn to get clients, sales work, event planning, etc.). Third, management is toxic and borderline harassing (they bully employees into not speaking to HR, fire people due to personal vendettas, heavily fraternize within employees, hold no American HR in place for long periods of time, have pay inequity/wage gaps, etc.) To this point, French project managers are condescending and don't take feedback well, but also develop grudges if the client likes you and your work more than them. Fourth, unless you're French, forget about a promotion post Senior Consultant level even if you deliver great revenue and deliverables. Fifth, managers and PMs will micromanage all of your work and even correct your English despite being an American. Sixth, this firm has terrible diversity and inclusion... I can count the BIPOC with one hand (but at least the BIPOC aren't stuck at this terrible job). Lastly, their employment contract practices are unheard of and un-American, with little concept to employment at-will (and remember you're likely to deal with French HR that has no concept of American laws). I would be wary of the vague/general positive reviews, as I don't know a single person that has left this company and has any good things to say.

Hello and on behalf of Wavestone, we would like to address some of your concerns. It looks like you were an employee of Wavestone US during the pandemic. Throughout this time, there were some difficulties as many companies experienced during this unicorn year. It’s worthwhile to point out that despite some hardships, Wavestone did not conduct any layoffs and was able to honor all promotions where applicable and annual salary adjustments for all. Wavestone is a global management & IT consulting firm, working in the US with clients specifically on their IT Strategy and Cyber transformations. We are in a growth phase in the US and recruit top talent from a variety of schools in North America. As part of our corporate culture, we promote an entrepreneurial spirit throughout the entire firm and our US offices. Participation in internal activities is encouraged by all and is an important part of the Wavestone experience as we grow in the US. Wavestone (US) has zero tolerance for harassment and anyone found to have violated our policy is subject to disciplinary action. We have clear local and global guidelines to ensure the message is clear for all.

Pros

If you love cybersecurity and IT consulting, you'll like at least 1 project. Potentially.

Cons

This is truly the worst company to work for. They are a toxic firm with a toxic work culture; the divide between the French and the Americans is absolutely insane. Don't expect a promotion if you're not French, or to be treated respectfully for that manner. They also pretend they do management consulting, but they don't. It's strictly IT/cybersecurity, but they refuse to hire people who are actually interested in that. The churn rate is crazy, and all on the American side; in my tenure here, over 20 American employees have left (and it's a 50 person office in NY!). I have also never in my life seen this amount of micro-management in a workplace. They hire bright individuals, and then they seem to make it their mission to dim the light within them in every way they can. Seriously, if you can go anywhere else...GO.

Hello and on behalf of Wavestone, we would like to address some of your concerns. As part of a global company whose foundations are in Paris, France, naturally there is a French presence in our US offices. Yes, wherever it operates, Wavestone is an equal opportunity employer: all employee-related decisions, including promotions, are administered without regard to their nationality, gender, sex, or any other protected class status within a dedicated collective process. Talent reviews involve career development managers, managers, and the HR teams along with the employee. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a global action driven by employees through the Wavestone For All initiative in close cooperation with the HR & CSR teams. In the US, we have a local CSR group and a D&I group dedicated to promoting these initiatives across our US offices.

Pros

Average salary, average benefits, lots of endless socials.

Cons

The first warning sign should be any company that tries to make you sign a waiver that you will work unlimited number of hours per week. UK Law has a 40 hour work week. Wavestone UK will try and get you to sign a legally binding waiver to dismiss these basic rights. This in itself should be a red alarm bell. The second warning is a company that asks its graduate work force to leave positive reviews on Glass Door. The HR team has been posting false positive reviews. This isn't a consulting company. This is a project management company disguised as consulting. Endless employee satisfaction surveys that go nowhere, just a tick-the-box exercise for a failing company that is propped up by it's French parent company. The leadership team lack credibility. and this is a reflection of the companies poor performance, extremely low staff morale and extremely high staff attrition rate. The company suffers a consistent loss every month, and the actual sales figures are hidden from employees. It had an 80% bench at worst and 60% at best during the time I was there. It's propped up by it's French parent company, for which the Partners and so called Directors have enjoyed a gravy train so far. The facts and figures speak for themselves. Once the French parent company pulls the plug it is curtains. The "Cloud Focus Areas" doesn't doesn't have any cloud experience, or any certifications. Zero credibility. The company relies on graduate consultants to trawl through Google and put together generic slide decks for presentation to clients with the Wavestone company logo. Wavestone only has two clients which are also French due to parent company contacts. It has not won new business for years. The so called staffing call will put you on any project in sheer desperation to fiddle the bench numbers to its parent company, regardless of your experience and subject matter expertise and expect you to sink or swim. This puts unrealistic and unfair pressure on graduates who break under pressure. I have never worked in such a toxic organization and with such demotivated employees. The attrition rate is very very high. There is at least a handful of leavers every month and that is when the reality sinks in... Something is very very wrong. Horrendous internal politics and toxic work environment. This company will not progress your career, and there are many managers who are stuck in a job with no progression, and cannot afford to leave as they do not have the right set of skills to find another job.

We appreciate the feedback and are disappointed to learn that you did not have a good experience with Wavestone. However we would like to clarify some inaccuracies. While we may encourage new joiners to provide feedback on their onboarding experience on Glassdoor, we have never insisted that anyone leave a review. As stated on our page on this site the HR team have never posted false reviews At the UK office level, we run a HR survey every 6 weeks. It provides us with meaningful data. A joint team involving Consultants and HR is dedicated to analysing the results of the survey and developing targeted action plans to address the issues raised. Concerning business performance, our key KPIs – including our utilisation rate – are shared every week through a newsletter and commented during our regular team meeting to give a transparent view of the business situation to the team. Wavestone UK are very proud of our ties to our French HQ and working on cross practice projects is part of our flexible working approach. In the UK our largest client is a Financial Services company and UK based. Finally, it is common for employers to give employees the option to opt-out of the EU working time directive however, the decision to opt-out is completely voluntary.
