Pros

Alot of opportunity for growth, variety of positions, and the worldwide impact and locations of Walmart. Get bonuses for store doing well.

Cons

Not enough recognition of hard work. Has become a place to work and get a paycheck. Walmart has become a place where teamwork is wanted, but the policies seem to stop this. Has become a place where your ideas don't matter as much. Management decides everything. Why try harder?

Pros

Easy job while in college, flexible hours, never a shortage of job openings. Pick up your groceries after you get off of work, one stop for everything.

Cons

Employees are numbers in a company so large. Management of any given store not necessarily that great. Benefits not that great, plus it's not really an exciting place to work. Dull, repeatitive tasks, and customers that claim to hate Walmart, but still shop there every day. Always some bad story in the newspaper about the company you work for.

Pros

More direct contact with senior management. Wal-Mart has a flatter organizational hierarchy comared to most companies. Along with that, the entire home office is located in one geographical area (Bentonville). This allows more contact with directors and senior management. If you're a hard worker, regardless of educational background, you could find vast opportunities to move up the corporate ladder.

Cons

Wal-Mart has a minimum 45 hour work week, but most employees would consider themselves lucky to only work that many hours a week due their enormous work load. There is a cult-like atmosphere which may make some people feel a bit uncomfortable. This involves meetings that start off with the Wal-Mart cheer. As everyone has probably heard, Wal-Mart has relatively poor benefits. Wal-Mart always seems to be in some sort of controversy whether deserved or not.
