Pros

The work life balance at Wal-Mart and general understanding of management is very good. You will rarely encounter better situations in terms of being given time off to take care of personal matters, vacations, etc. Management is also very respectful towards employees and vice versa, there is a strong culture of mutual respect in the organization and anything else is generally not tolerated. A culture of quality work is also generally present and to get the right job done. Overally the company is a fair place to work for where if you are aggressive you have lots of opportunity to learn and grow in many positions in the company HQ.

Cons

Not aggressive Geographically undesireable location for young people Not well educated

Pros

Wal-Mart as a company is a solid growing company. The founders values (three basic beliefs) of the company are tools to live and work by. The company does provide services and products that allow Americans to live better financially.

Cons

Negative media PR. Diversity goal imbalances, geared more towards senior management meeting there compliance goals over the "best quailfied individual" for the position. "Cookie cutter" mentality, always thinking that what works best in one part of the buiness works well for all. Large size, can be a negative, people become hard to see... can't see fruit bearing trees because of the massive forest"

Pros

Wal-Mart keeps me humble, very humble. Everyone should work somewhere like Wal-Mart for a while, to learn for themselves the importance of pensions, decent pay, regular hours, labor unions, and self respect. When you've worked for Wal-Mart, you will appreciate a decent job if you find one.

Cons

You name it. It truly feels like legalized slavery most of the time. It is a symbol for the pitfalls of capitalism. Scientific Management Calculated Shorthandedness Management Intimidation High Turnover Low Employee Morale Lack of Professionalism in Management
