Pros

The pay. While still in college, I was able to do a summer internship as a retail management store intern. I was making 14/hour, which is pretty good. I definitely had to do a lot of work, hard work, but the pay made it bearable. Also, the experience. Very few places are willing to give you a CHANCE at working at a manager position, with no experience. Walgreens did that and I appreciate it.

Cons

The biggest downside was the level of work. I was worked so hard and there is really no way to finish all the work given in a 40 hour work week. Thus working overtime. BUT, the company is so anti-overtime, I actually had to work a lot of "off the clock hours." I'm a hard worker, but it really wore me out. Also, as for the general health of the company, I don't think, compared to CVS, it is a very healthy company. But they seem to take care of their people better than CVS. Only time will tell if they survive the level of competition.

Pros

Being able to do something different ever day, meeting new people all the time and helping make peoples days better.

Cons

can be long hours, and can be a challange with the amount of hours each store has to work with. It is possible to deal with issues that can be mentally draining

Pros

Great pay. Fast pace environment. Always learning new things. People and employees always seemed to have smiles on there face and were very enthusiastic. The training seemed to be fun and creative. Working with Walgreens employees was a highlight. Even if you were at the bottom of the totem pole the person at the top was right there with you to show you how it was done. The seasons of the year were always changing so was your work environment. You could see Christmas coming even though it was six months away. The training also seemed to be tops of all companies I worked for.

Cons

People never really gave praise for a job well done. The company also seemed to cut people out and under staff management at times. I did not like the corporate polices either. Specially the shrink policy, if food was going to go bad (expiration date) in the freezer department they would just throw it away. I mean they could have at least given it to the homeless shelter down the street because it still had a week to go until it spoiled. But even then it was frozen food… Does that even go bad?
