      Change is coming - the executives are enthusiastic; the employees . . . not so much

      Pros

      Are you ready for change? Do you laugh in the face of uncertainty, daily challenges, and crushing deadlines? Can you work in a company with a long history trying to re-invent itself?

      Cons

      No raises for the last 5 years. Continuous downsizing via layoffs, attrition and sell-offs (with suggestions & rumors of more to come). Radical shift to a new SaS product focus competing against established and financed competition.

      Could Use Some Work in the Business Forecast Arena

      Pros

      Excellent people, great pay, professional atmosphere, and overall fun place to work.

      Cons

      The guillotine does fall swiftly at times without much notice. Restructuring layoffs occur a little too frequently unless you become assertive, and make yourself valuable directly out of training, spanning departments, and gathering experience. Much of the business is based on Sales performance. Weak client base = departmental budget cuts.

      Pros

      * Opportunities to work in a fast moving market. * Technically challenging and complex products * Latest design and working practices implemented by the company * Good environment in which to work

      Cons

      * Although technically challenging, the work became less varied as focus became more on product and less on innovation. * Lots of legacy products meant that backward compatibility could become a nightmare. * Opportunity to work on development outside of telecoms now non-existent since contracting was stopped. Even if there was slack in the workforce and work was available we could not do it.
