Pros

Once in a lifetime opportunities and operating absolute bleeding edge technology, secure benefits, everything you expect from the military.

Cons

Terrible leadership, low pay, extremely risk adverse culture, toxic work environments, terrible hours, poorly maintained/for profit housing, this goes beyond the expected privations of military service in a peace time environment. Deferred maintenance and increasingly extended shipyard cycles on top of op tempos with and ever insecurely decreasing budget put enormous stress upon lower enlisted and junior officers. High levels of mental illness and suicide among heavily armed personal make for a dangerous and depressing situation

Pros

Providing great incentives for new sailors to advance their career such as Selective Reenlistment Bonuses, Specialized Training that converts into civilian life, A chance to purchase a home using VA Home Loan, Networking, Healthcare to include medical and dental to cover you and your family, life insurance, Traveling the world.

Cons

Some issues the Navy could do better on would be, Mental Health which means not turning away a patient just because they are not suicidal, If a Sailor wants to separate then the command should be fully willing to let them take advantage of DOD Skillbridge program. Also consider being away from family for great lengths of time without contact, Stressful and high demanding positions within your job, Long working hours, Low numbers for advancement, having to take on jobs outside your rate, No overtime, working holidays,
