Pros

Is this a joke? The hours - 3am-9am in a building with no air conditioning. The pay - You'll be pressured into forfeiting a portion to the United Way. Career advancement - Who needs a career anyway?

Cons

My favorite moment at UPS was reading a message in a bathroom stall that said: "Under Paid Slaves" This organization leads by intimidation. "Management" retains employees with empty promises of career advancement. Want to progress from part-time management to full-time management? You better plan on delivering packages instead. But wait! You have a degree? It doesn't matter - none of my managers had a college education. UPS is managed by truck drivers, not leaders.

Pros

UPS offers a phenominal benefits package, even for part-time employees. The company prides itself on promotion from within, so advancement is directly related to how much you want it and how hard you are willing to work for it. I have met many members of senior management and all of them started as hourlys. In additon, the holiday season results in a LOT of overtime pay for someone who can put in the hard hours. A great job for a college student, the hours leave open most classtimes and the company supports education. Often promoting employees immediatly after graduation.

Cons

The work is hard and demanding. The pace is always fast and the hours leave much to be desired. However, the pay scale reflects this.

Pros

Ups is a nice to work because there is so much prestige in wearing the brown uniform. For a company to still be in business for a 100 years that is an accomplishment in itself. Everyone there are cool to work with it is almost like a home away from home this is like my second family. once you get into fulltime management the pay is like no other jobs. for a guy my age 26 i feel i am paid very well.

Cons

The higher up you get in management you tend to come across alot of idiots. Sometime i wonder what connections some of these fools had because obviously they didnt get to the top on there brain power. Its very hard to get time off once you reach the fulltime ranks and above. you almost have to lie just to get the day off. alot of times the hours ae long and i feel as if i live in that building. The biggest thing is DAYS OFF
