Pros

Flexible and understanding attitude to work life balance. Can be great if you are very technically focused in the niche defence market.

Cons

Poor senior management and leadership company is clumsy and slow to react to the market. No performance culture and a just ticking the boxes process exsists.

Pros

Less of a commute. They do have good lab space and equipment. Manufacturing can be cooperative once you let them know you aren't a "typical engineering a--hole".

Cons

Office space is mostly cubes. , but they expect the engineers to be part of the setup. Engineers are treated like tools. Mid level management are just engineers who have done good engineering, but have little skill in management. The guy at the top has a tendency to yell when things aren't as he expects. This results in a lot of cowering managers below him. Tons of politics and back biting. Software (which includes FPGA design) department is always fighting with hardware engineering departments, the usual turf war stuff.
