Pros

Flexible scheduling is the only pro I can think of.

Cons

Due to the small business aspect of individual franchise's, I was not allowed to take a break. That could be up to 16 hours with no break. I would get calls from my manager if I was caught sitting for more than 3 minutes, which is absolutely absurd as I got no break. The management is almost non existent, and not a single person takes your concerns into consideration. They do not care about their employees whatsoever and it shows. The things that they call "fresh" are very rarely that. The lettuce comes in a huge box and if the color is off, they just mix it up so it's harder to tell. The smell that comes from the meats (salami, pepperoni, ham and turkey) is enough to make someone want to vomit. And the chicken, steak, and meatballs... I would just stay away from. Plain and simple.

Awful pay for extreme amount of work

Pros

Free food, bonuses as a manager

Cons

Way over worked, franchise owners did not help when I desperately needed them, I once worked 21 days in a row at least 10 hour days. I often worked open to close and open the next morning which was a 16+ hour shift, then open the next day. Owner required at least 50 hours for my sad salary. At the end of five years, with bonuses I was making $35k.

Pros

Free food and drink. That's it. Absolutely no other pro I can think of.

Cons

I wish I could rate my 2 years at Subway lower than 1. Struggling to think of a worst place to work. Management absolutely, unarguably do not care about employers, especially when they are struggling. Don't even answer the phone when there is an emergency in-store. I was a basic Sandwich Artist and was having to not only clean and close the store every night but also cash up the till, do paperwork and put money away in the safe. With all this stress, I wasn't even being paid more. These were Supervisor responsibilities. I never closed with a Supervisor, and was made to close with a trainee on my own when I also was technically a trainee. My training wasn't even finished, and completely forgotten about. So understaffed it was ridiculous. The chippie across the road had more staff on every night, and we were considerably busier. Used to go home with a stress headache every single night, and sometimes close myself in the freezer and simply just scream at the top of my lungs. Couldn't recommend this place any less. Boycotting for life. Absolutely stay away at all costs.
