Pros

Most of the work is quite easy- inventory, ordering, sales, budgeting, bank deposits - but it does require a high level of responsibility and awareness.

Cons

Dealing with customers can be one of the most challenging aspects of food service, but if you approach any issue with a positive attitude, it usually works out well for both you and the customer.

Pros

Loads of options, there are usually at least two subways within walking distance of each other. The pay was very much fair. If you are at a good franchise then the environment is fun, with everyone doing there job work can be very simple and straightforward. This was the case with two of the three different stores I worked.

Cons

Then there are bad franchises. At my first store the owner had a surveillance system he used to bust employees for the smallest of slip ups. That created an atmosphere of paranoia, not fun. The greatest weakness Subway has as an employer is the inconsistency from store to store. Good stores are fun, bad stores are the worst jobs in the food industry (six year food services veteran), no middle ground.

One of the better food chains to work for.

Pros

Subway is alright.. it's much better working here than I expected. They serve healthy food and are very clean so I don't mind eating here and recommending the food. You get a free 6 inch sub at the end of your shift and you can snack on cookies, chips and soda when things get slow, all for free. Pay is a few cents above what I would have been getting paid anywhere else with minimal experience. They also provide your work shirt and hat for free and are willing to work your schedule around school. The customers are nicer than expected and we get a lot of regulars who everyone is on a first name basis with.

Cons

My managers are nice, but do not speak english so communication is a big issue. I was scolded for getting things wrong the first few days because we had a tough time understanding each other. I'm still new here but I'm often called out for things I was never taught how to do.
