Pros

Your co workers will be some of the most supportive and hardworking people you'll ever meet, and all in store staff and managers are lovely. Due to the experience I have gained by working shifts in myself and being responsible for the whole store (despite only being a part time sandwich artist) I'm able to apply for shift supervisor jobs at other chains. At least the experience can bring you far.

Cons

At the particular franchise I work at you get paid minimum wage but still have responsibilities of a manager. You'll regularly be completely alone in the morning and night shifts, leaving you with way too much work for one individual, even if you're not fully trained you'll be responsible for ensuring the right float is in the till every morning and night. Every missing coin, and food wastage will be taken out of your already little wage. Skeleton crew even on a Saturday, and there is no extra pay for working Sundays, bank holidays, or over time.

Pros

The pros about working at Subway is the flexible schedule and meeting new people .

Cons

The main problem for me is the amount of work for minimum wage ( $7.25/ hour in Texas).

Pros

If you have the right manager it can be a very fun, tight knit group. Everybody will do their job and even the customers aren't so rude. They do also give you a cheap sub every day you work and 20% off food you buy. Also my franchise brought us our W2's and on your birthday or anniversary you get free harkins tickets. If you can take tips, sometimes your customers are very generous!

Cons

It can be hard work. Also you often work with 16 or 17 year old and they are unpredictable emotional roller coasters. After 8pm those kids start getting grumpy. If you are a female in charge, nobody will listen to you. Ever. It makes for more hard work than the job is worth. You also can't call out EVER. My mom was in the hospital in critical condition and I called out but my manager was basically threatening me because she didn't want to work the shift. There are often only 6-7 employees and nobody picks up their phone or has open availability. There is also strong favoritism playing out. Some people are moved up for that reason and then others aren't for that reason. It is a sad merry go round of the same stuff over and over.
