Pros

Overall, I have tremendous respect for Starbucks. I strongly believe in it's corporate mission and values. Good healthcare, 401K, free coffee, gym, talented people.

Cons

I work in the creative studio. It's a culture of consensus and there are many layers (up and lateral) to get anything approved. There is no accountability when creative briefs are late by months. The studio simply makes up for lost time which creates an incredibly stressful working environment. Designers are given hours to a few days to concept or design projects. Leadership in the studio is bloated and could be axed by a quarter. They need more designers to do the work, not management who seem the need to justify their roles by giving feedback when feedback is not needed. The culture in the studio, which comes from the top down, is similar to that of a high school. There is the popular crowd and they get the high profile projects and attention. The studio claims to be inclusive but if you do not "fit in" because you are more quiet, opinionated or louder, you will be marginalized or "forced" out.

Little political of a workplace, the news is always up Starbucks butt about everything they do... So it feels like everything you do is watched.

Pros

corporate social responsibility profile, many great people, friendly environment. Solid benefits, particularly for store partners.

Cons

After 5 years working at the corporate headquarters, I began to sense a weird vibe from my manager. I inquired about the situation and was told both verbally and in writing that nothing was wrong. Despite these reassurances, which in the meantime had led me to decline a different position within the company, I was laid off two weeks later.
