Pros

Starbucks is an extraordinary place to begin a career in retail. The pay is above average and there is a tremendous pride in employment from all of the "partners." This sounds silly for an outsider, but for those working at 5:00am to open their store, it is a point of pride. The job satisfaction is unparalleled and this is attributed by the positive work environment. This job will always be remembered fondly.

Cons

The only drawbacks from working at Starbucks is a limit on income without rising above the store manager level. And this itself is incredibly difficult due to growing pains in the company.

Pros

its a good place to work..if you can actually land a job

Cons

it was my experience that the hiring process for starbucks was almost impossible. When i first got my application they told me the best thing to do was to photocopy it and then just spread it around, so i put in applications at every single starbucks in my whole town and out of like 12 different applications it took more than a month before i even got 1 responce back, and then two more weeks before i got an interview and then another month before they even let me know i had the job. It was just compleatly frusturating and just totally rediculous so be warned if your in need of a job fast dont count on starbucks cause it wont happen...

Pros

Benefits (PPO) for 20hrs/wk, always busy, always room to advance, everywhere (transfers), work nearly anytime you like (3am-12midnite). Paid time off, respect of superiors when mgmt or recent hire/home store superiors are condescending.

Cons

Customer service at its worst with tips that do not make up for it! Arrogance of new management or outside hires -- most come in and after a business degree and managing a few other stores, think it will be like that.. WRONG! We are 'partners' for a reason. A barista works hard mopping the floor and dealing with ridiculous customers... but just because the manager 'supervises' doesn't mean they do not have to do the same 'demeaning' or dirty work-- and doesn't mean they are above the standards of Starbucks. An arrogant or condescending outside hire will often come in acting as such, yet because of Starbucks' true loyalty to all 'partners,' they will be gone immediately if they challenge this-- compliments of the 'stupid' baristas like me who, very often, know much, much more about the inner workings of such a complicated company.... ......
