      Great training ground, if you have the stomach for politics.

      Pros

      Great internal engagement and opportunities for movement. Compensation is fine.

      Cons

      Lots of political agenda. There is a vicious culture of trying to please senior stakeholders blindly. Race discrimination happens in some teams where they are primarily driven by birds of the same flock.

      Promotion glass ceiling; Salary increase very minimal, does not even cover the annual inflation rise; demotivating in general; Mediocre bank with mediocre ambitions and hiring is based on who knows whom.

      Pros

      Worked in five different roles/offices in 8 years with the bank. Worked with international colleagues across Asia, Africa and Middle East. Fantastic opportunities to move into different roles and gained experiences in project management, facilitation of discussions, managing business relationship, development of influencing and communications skills. Opportunities to interact with senior business leaders and participate in decision making process once you have proven with your skills and attitudes

      Cons

      Retrenchment is unavoidable in banking industry and more so now for the past 2 years. You have to watch your back tightly and check if your job is secured from time to time. You do not want to be catch unprepared.
