Pros

Some limited opportunities for travel, some nice people working there

Cons

A lot of bureaucracy that stops you doing your job, long hours and poor salary benefits…once you start, don’t expect much of a pay increase year after year. This is driven by the companies obsession to cut costs to meet ROTE targets.

Pros

Nothing much to tell about as salary is just at par with heavy workload .

Cons

Even Servant Leaders can form political groups. Performing people are not appreciated as they become competitors. The HR is as good as non existent. Heavy weekend booze culture. Total disconnection among teams. Colonial style of working. Team member who is a slave, lies openly according to manager's whims, cries at times to prove his point and drives the manager to airport and booze-centres will get recognition and reward. Everyone rivalling other. Poisonous and toxic environment in many teams. Old British colonial hotspots and behaviours have a special precedence. Horrible senior management.

Pros

Employee benefits and pay is reasonable from the global company benefits framework

Cons

Have to manage differing local political views that do not align with local laws and regulations and without consensus on definitions. There is little or no inclusion of diversity and values with other nationalities with the local groups internally managed. Decision-making rarely followed through logically as everything is internally in local Cantonese with irrational definitions. Staff are involved in a bureaucratic group think culture to justify the existence of a hierarchy and culture. In the past local staff do exploit loopholes in this bank and systems for their own interests. External communications narratives are hiding internal pressures and fundamental system problems, and are not made transparent. Local staff general knowledge and job training is behind other countries by comparison. Responsibilities and accountability are often not managed demonstrating locally hires into local management roles without proper skills due to the narratives of local IT management. The toxic and selfish local culture causes investors, staff and customers to leave which is why the Hong Kong branch is where it is today.
