Used to be great, but has lost its way

Pros

Some remnants of the old "ohana" culture remain, and those are fantastic. The people you'll work with here are generally some of the most competent and driven folks on the planet (however this is changing, as much of the top talent is leaving due to the culture and comp shift). The offices are beautiful.

Cons

The company is going through a panic at the moment, and sadly it seems that this will be extremely dangerous for its long term culture and performance. Ironically, the obsession with "high performance culture" is likely to kill the high performance culture that the company always had. Comp generosity, engagement, and a culture of fearlessness allowed Salesforce to be extremely competent as a company over the years, however this is now being replaced by "you're afraid of being laid off", which is driving performance into the gutter. Freezes on promotions and under-inflation comp reviews means that there is an exodus of talent slowly starting to ramp up, which only compounds this.

Pros

- The product is great and is a tool that organisations actually need (and want). - The company is just amazing: flexible work hours, work from home or office, volunteering opportunities, lots of SPIFFs and big commission opportunities. - Colleagues often feel like friends, most people are very helpful when you need help or support

Cons

- Local leadership can be a pain, especially if externally hired. Many managers don't get along with the Salesforce values and do not respect your way of working, behaviour or ethics. - Many patches are extremely small and tough to deal with. The base salary is relatively low, so without commissions, it's not a great place to be. However the differences between salaries and commissions can be enormous, so you got to be lucky. - Complicated and political promotion path: you will get promoted but they will always try to downsize your salary, which will be much lower than externally hired candidates.
