Pros

SYSTRA is a world leading company in transport planning and engineering. This french company, owned by the RATP (paris transports company) and SNCF (french railways) is present in most of the countries in the world. You can start you carrier here after your degree, as an engineer in a diversity of jobs: transport planning, structures engineer, railway, catenary... Then, 4 or 5 years after your arrival, you can evolve to a project manager or an expert. Long projects usually take 2 or 3 years, people is normaly working on the building site if they are surveying the construction, or at SYSTRA offices somewhere in the world to make the construction project. SYSTRA and his subsidiaries (SYSTRA Consulting and MVA) have offices all around the world, mostly in Asia and north Africa, the engineers are usually local. I think is a great place to start a career and to learn a lot.

Cons

This is a company of transports engineering, so if you are looking for this, this is really the good place. However, you evolution will not be very fast (this is a big company, 3 000 people, so evolution is slow although you emigrate to one of the local offices). Management is done mostly by engineers who are in the company since a long time, so it's not always great.

Pros

Work life balance is good if you're in Paris. It pays quite well. Young people (because there some turnover), good working envirnoment.

Cons

They send me directly to the client, just the day I arrived. If you are on a mission, don't count on their support. You're a bit alone. No follow up on your career: what will I do next ? Nobody will be able to tell you. You keep you job for >3 years as everywhere in France in the engineering sector. Also you will quickly become a specialist (eg of the automatic metro technoology, of the electrification of a railway...) and this will stick on you forever ! Keep in mind that I worked there before the merger with Inexia. Since then the company has doubled of size and changed adress, senior management etc...
