Pros

Really awesome culture with a great desire to build a world-class, global organization

Cons

Shortage of senior leaders, and many inexperienced managers creates some headaches, but managed really well. A lot of challenges are those expected for a global organization in experiencing hyper growth.

Pros

- It REALLY is about the player - 99% of Riot's decisions start off with the question: "What would the player want?" I can confidently say that our players truly are the #1 priority. - Empowerment >> we're not necessarily a flat org as we are an empowering org. Riot actually allows you to make a difference. You're expected to get involved and make a difference. If you're just simply "maintaining," then you don't belong at Riot. - Company cares >> Riot goes above and beyond to make the work life as comfortable as possible for Rioters. Literally, every company I've worked for has been so concerned with managing the bottom line it adversely affects the employee (and player/customer). - Opportunity >> is abundant. At other places I've been, had one role and did one job. Riot allows you the opportunity to get involved. If you can contribute and bring value, then do it!

Cons

Demanding >> the industry is fast and Riot is FASTER. Work life blend leans towards the work side but not as much as other reviews indicate. There's a lot that needs to get done but folks that that put in the extra effort are willing participants. Along with that note, I do find that Rioters are often terrible with time management. You will commonly see folks work 10+ hours a day, that's primarily due to their inability to utilize their time effectively. Lack of standards >> Riot is almost adverse to standards at work. This creates a HUGE inconsistency from one team to another. Because of this, it is an unnecessary challenge for support organizations to keep up with the incessantly changing needs, tools, protocol, etc. Squeaky wheel >> gets the grease. Riot's culture is more conducive to being overly vocal. The con here is the potential isolation of a personality type that can bring value.

Pros

The interview process at Riot is long and hard (yes this turns into a pro). The recruiter who handled my case was honest about this from the outset, extremely responsive and kept me in the loop. However even with all this it was at times frustrating, BUT within 24 hours of starting my first day it became obvious why the hiring process is what it is. Sure it's about finding the best talent, but it's equally about making sure that everyone hired fits the company culture? So what is culture, is it 'we all like to joke around and have fun whilst we work'? No, it's the core values that Riot has - that our players are our first concern, that we need to do our best for them at all times, that we need to always be improving. Being in an environment where everyone shares the same values as I do is incredible. I'm now encouraged to follow my instincts, to push the envelope, to make mistakes, try new things, to unlock my imagination and drive any project I believe will bring our players benefit. There's also loads of perks - Gym subsidy, international travel, free lunches, game funds just to name a few!

Cons

I honestly can't think of any cons involved in working at Riot. I haven't been with the company very long, and I'm still very much in the honeymoon phase which doesn't show any sign of wearing off.
