Riot Is (Not) the Place for You If...

Pros

Riot is not for everyone, in fact it is not for most people. If you're looking for a cushy, stable job where you can carve out a comfy spot for yourself, don't apply. If you need to have someone regularly delegate assignments to you and tell you what needs to done, don't apply. If you're resistant to stepping out of your comfort zone to try something you've never done before, where there's a possibility you'll fall flat on your face (sometimes in a very public setting), don't apply. If you like to work in a highly structured environment, where you knew exactly what's expected of you and there's very little ambiguity involved in your day-to-day activities, don't apply. Conversely... If you're a star performer who wants to work in an environment with some of the smartest, most accomplished people in the world, this is the place for you. If you are open to hearing ongoing feedback (both good and bad) about your performance/attitude/results/diction/demeanor/behavior on a regular basis, this is the place for you. If you're fairly comfortable working in ambiguous situations where there may be no right/correct/standard way of doing something (sometimes because Riot's facing problems very few other companies in the world has ever dealt with), this is the place for you. If you're able to stand your ground and push forward with what you believe is the right thing to do, even in the face of intense personalities, conflict and sometimes derailment, this is the place for you. If you have a record of seeing problems, owning solutions (not just the idea but the execution), and persuading some of the most insanely busy people around to buy into your solution and support you, then Riot is definitely the place for you.

Cons

The cost and traffic congestion of living in LA is horrendous. There is absolutely no other job I would have taken that would have outweighed the crappiness of living in LA.

Pros

Riot is a great place to work -- I've worked for many big companies around St. Louis, and if you're looking for a great place to grow, learn and have fun Riot is it. * Culture. * Gaming. * Free Lunches. * Flexible Schedules * Great Pay/Benefits * Location The Gaming industry has a stigma of pushing people to work long hours... but I've been here over a year and never had any of that pressure. Most people work typical 9-5ish schedules and everyone here seems to have a great work/life balance. People that do decide to work late do so because they are excited about what they are making progress on -- not because they are expected to.

Cons

This isn't really a con... but if it reads like one to you, then this might not be the place for you... * You need to be highly motivated and willing to self-start / learn on the job. Things move very fast at Riot, and you need to be passionate about doing great work and finding ways to add value to the company. No one is going to tell you how to do your job (usually). You'll be expected to find ways to be productive and make awesome happen without always being told how. * You'll need to do some travelling to California a few times a year. Everyone is flexible with dates and you can skip out on some travel if you have conflicts -- but it is to your benefit to travel to HQ when you can.

Pros

We have great benefits and perks. Riot really cares about it's Rioters. We are challenged on a constant basis, no stagnant minds here. If you have passion for things other than your specific job, there are many opportunities to have outlets. Office is pretty cool, soon to be better! Open PTO policy If you invest in Riot, Riot will invest in you. Gaming encouragement (games are played in the office, all games, not just League)

Cons

Tend to be work/life/balance issues, due to gaming at work and passion of Rioters. If you don't find a mentor at times you can feel lost (you are responsible to find your own, and drive the relationship) Loud work spaces Some ppl play too many games, you wonder if they actually work Riot Games is located in a high cost of living area There has yet to be a lot of growth into mgmt, often times hired from the outside
