Challenging, yet human

Pros

I work at HR so I understand many of you guys may take my review as biased. but I'll try to be honest here. Yes, not everything is perfect and lot of things can be improved but I worked in many other companies (both private corporations and in public sector) and I simply like it here. Plus when there are changes, it is usually for better. Difficult projects = sometimes hard, overtimes, can be stressful, but it let you grow. Great people (at least in my team) and very pleasant company culture with a human touch = less corporate mumbo jumbo, emphasis on nice CSR projects, good internal communication and recognition of individual's progress Company grows, is recognized and praised by its clients (global IT firms) = stability (also financial one) despite the current Covid situation Interesting field of work and understandable products (you help people understand latest SW inventions and ideas in their own langague). International environement, clever colleagues.

Cons

Fast growth, acquisitions of new companies = less organized, requires flexibility and ability to adapt to changes quickly. Some large projects arrive on a short notice, requiring a lot of time = leads to overtimes (it always comes in waves). All this is quite ok with me but can be a "no" for people seeking nine to five job with clear structure, processes and predicatability.

Pros

Ok entry level job to get into the industry, and to pay the bills. Interesting work. Flexible hours if needed. Ok healthcare options, 401k.

Cons

Production staff often overworked and burnt out. High turnover, not enough staff. For production staff, there is not much upward mobility after being promoted to project manager. Management doesn’t seem to respect production staff, often makes decisions without consulting them. Lack of consistency across teams; programs.

Pros

Many nice and talented people to work with. Decent pay. Multi-lingual/cultural working environment. Short notice period of 1 week from your side upon terminating the contract.

Cons

- Terrible contract. The company gives you as little as a week if you're laid off. As mentioned above, only 1 week notice needed to give when you leave, but it's an absolute nightmare for the remaining teammates. - Terrible stability of the job. Constant anxiety over the possibility of getting fired at any time. Many people were either laid off, or suggested reducing working hours in 2018. - Greedy client, company is not there for you either. It may depends on the project, but my project constantly demands higher quality of performance, while the company refuse to consider giving you a raise whatsoever.
