Screwing over employees

Pros

Smart people in some teams working on very interesting projects. Decent compensation and benefits but going away very fast. Flexible work schedule in some teams.

Cons

Massive cost cutting while returning billions of dollars to investors. Reduction in medical benefits. Bonuses and stock awards for employees have been cut. Executives are compensated based on how much cash they return to investors in the form of dividends and share buyback programs. Employees are fleeing the company because the management doesn't seem to care about the employees. Big company feel. IT often gets in the way instead of solving problems. No laptop upgrades unless it's broken and can't be fixed. Being at the bottom of the technology food chain sucks. We are fighting for scraps thrown at us by ecosystem players. We need to move up the food chain.

Pros

Location, sharp talent, ability to succeed in spite of itself

Cons

Nepotism, blinders to bad Exec behavior, Exec's take the cream with working level folks that actually make the technology work are getting creamed.

Pros

The pros is a work place if you want to live in San Diego, as other companies has been moving offices out of town.

Cons

This company has a dis-functional HR. HR invests in writing ethic policies but without enforcement of those. They'll periodically send you forms requiring you to electronically sign that you must comply, so they are covered. Employees are leaving the company at a much higher pace now as the stock in lower. The reason is dis-trust in the company's values and such deployment of those. Previously they stayed for the money, and they are voting now against the company with their legs. Employees resignation rate is significantly higher than the market average rate. Management further exhaust those who stayed behind with even worse unrealistic milestones and pressure to fulfill those. Very low volume of opportunities to move in the company.
