Pros

benefit, salary, home office, vacations

Cons

At the beginning they hired senior people, that later found out to be at same level (salary and responsibilities) of people with no working experience in procurement. Serve the business for the task that they don t want to do in country. So new strategy is to pay the same but to hired people with no experience or background so they will not complain and they will be happy to do administrative task ( upload pdf, organize meetings, copy paste in contract..) with a better salary and a lot of home office. At the end no possibility to learn and to growth if you want a REAL experience in procurement, in your cv you will be even Category Manager but you will not be ready later in your career to do this job in a real procurement department in another company!! Management not well educated and with no skills to lead so many people, unclear careers opportunities, and no meritocracy.

Pros

Good science. Good resources. Good management training opportunities.

Cons

Most toxic work environment I have ever experienced. Managers only focus on managing "up" to move ahead, often at the cost of their reports. No internal promotions and little recognition for quality work. Speak up and be cut off at the knees culture, even private discussions with manager. Employee review process generally used to punish those who do not fit the "Stepford" employee model. HR's primary role is to protect the abusive middle management corps.

Pros

Company has a good pipeline with varied pharmacology and targets Innovative approach to early phase development Global, diversified business active in several healthcare sectors (generics, eyecare, vaccines etc) in addition to pharmaceuticals

Cons

The culture is unusually negative and political, almost toxic compared to other companies I've worked for. Novartis is a good place to ruin your career, unless you are lucky enough to favoured by a member of the 'CEG club'. Even then beware, people are commonly taken out/demoted without warning, like a sniper shot. There is a significant disconnect between what is said to employees (innovative, creative, work-life balance, honesty, patient-focused) and what is practised day-to-day (over-work, punitive removals from post, negativity, control, favoritism, the 'club' - Corporate Executive Group). The constant stream of company news is all spin and propaganda, it's painfully obvious to most employees, except managers in 'the club'. It's almost funny if it wasn't so awful.
