Pros

Challenging work, great co-workers, interesting work - no day is ever the same.

Cons

Morale very poor, too much work-not enough staff, lack of an open door policy (despite being told it exists), people leaving in droves, nepotism is alive and thriving, poor management, management is out of touch and in denial, managements priorities are covering up their mistakes.

Pros

Pay was competitive with other employers. Remote work is great when management is experienced working with remote employees, and in theory this should have been a very easy, efficient arrangement.

Cons

This employer does not know how to manage remote employees, systems inadequate to support remote work, managers use intimidation and massive micro-management instead of getting to know their team members' strengths and working with them. Systems used to manage workflow are designed for health insurance claims which are 99% one and done, while disability claims can go on for months or even years. Highly frustrating as it is impossible to organize information in a logical manner. This workplace will make you tear your hair out.

Pros

Size/critical mass would lead one to believe that there are advantages, but there simply AREN'T!!!

Cons

Truth is, the company is spiraling. Employee morale is seriously low. In my 23 years, I have never seen an organization lose it's way the way Met has. They espouse a 'Customer Centricity' model, and pay ZERO attention to the customer. Due to the move to North Carolina, several people have been laid-off and those that are left are paralyzed by the state of the organization. It's very sad that a company with this rich a history has gotten to this point! There are strong concerns from the field about the commitment to career distribution. Everything that is being done looks more and more like a direct to client focus. After all these years, I am now ACTIVELY looking for a new 'HOME'!!! What a sad state...
