Pros

The Cary office is in the middle of a really great area to have a family; Cary has excellent schools, good parks and community centers, etc. The workplace culture is generally good. The powers that be are genuinely trying to make MetLife GTO into a real tech company. In my experience it is easy to run into and chat with executives, and my opinion of them is overwhelmingly favorable.

Cons

It is sometimes difficult to be a software engineer at what is fundamentally not a technology company. Depending on the team you're on you can (as in my case) have a great experience working with talented people on a team that tries to be as forward-thinking as possible, but you will always be limited by existing institutions.

Pros

Work/Life Balance was the best thing about working there, work from home

Cons

Pay, promotions were based on who you know rather than qualifications, work load was unrealistic

Pros

Benefits, "Old" MetLifers, That's about it

Cons

Company continues to bring in "MBA" type people who only think of themselves and not their employees. Morale, with all the continuous changes, is going down hill. With the loss of Bill Wheeler things will get worse before they get better.
