Pros

- Great work life balance and work flexibility in US. Hybrid office culture with many roles still fully remote. Official policy of 2-3 days in office not strictly enforced and depends on individual teams. Company explicitly encourages leaving early before long weekends. - Strong vacation and sick leave policy in US. 27 days PTO + 10 days sick. - Most coworkers are great, this industry does not attract certain toxic personality types. - Company does promote people frequently and create new roles for high achieving employees, at least in my department.

Cons

- Pay is not competitive, especially for some roles based in high cost of living areas. However, this is the trade-off for the pros noted above. - Fairly high turnover due to large corporate environment where some people may hit a ceiling more quickly than others. In my short time with the company, I have seen people leave for better pay elsewhere even right after being promoted at Marsh. - Expensive insurance, 401k matching only after 1 full year of service, which is not competitive.

Pros

Overall the company is great to work for, and the job itself has lots of room for learning and career growth. You will learn a lot about how the company brokers insurance for clients as well as how to lead the renewal process.

Cons

The Account Coordination department is still very new and the turn over rate is higher than personally expected, causing the work load for the remaining staff to increase drastically. This is on top of an already high amount of work in the form of projects and document creation/tracking to add extra stress to the individual Account Coordinator handling 30+ accounts with little to no assistance or backup.

Pros

Responded well to COVID. Good benefits and pay was okay.

Cons

Nepotism is rife. Workload is often unmanageable - there were tales of brokers working past midnight. ‘Disease to please’ culture - senior managers afraid to say no to unreasonable demands from clients and staff suffer as a result. Terrible IT systems and outdated equipment in Specialty. Back office function in Norwich and India not fit for purpose - can take months to close a risk.
