Pros

I think this is a great company for people just out of college looking to build their resume.

Cons

The benefits are not good- very few investment (and not good) choices for their 401k and the co-pays and costs for the health benefits are high. Do not take the company stock- it's a dog. The attitudes, especially in managemant are horrible- people are very rude here. Politeness and respect are not encouraged. People don't say please, thank you, or excuse me or hold doors. The dress code is lax to say the least. I guess once you get outside of Boston the attitudes change- that's what I have seen anyway. The bonus structure might be getting better this year. Right now it is based on favoritism and no one even denies that in management.

Pros

You have access to lots of thought around best practices and technical information. As a data junkie I enjoy this most in working for Marsh. We have experts in lots of subject areas and have the best resources to offer clients. People work hard and I haven't encountered the ethical problems or political b.s. I've seen in other workplaces (the NY situation was in no way indicative of the overall culture).

Cons

Cumbersome time-consuming procedures that predate transparency, remote management (NY can't help but be out of touch with local needs), no agency management system and lots of wholesale changes of systems with no conversion of data or thought of how much time the new procedure/system will take. The training is catch as catch can unless you're a new college grad but a mentoring program is being put into place. When people leave they are never replaced in a timely manner.

Pros

The company appears to be headed in the right direction with new management, and there are a lot of opportunities for growth. Positive working environment and there is a lot of support from managers. A lot of different options as far as departments go, can get involved in many different industries. Compensation is decent for the amount of hours worked, and there is a positive work/life balance. Excellent growth potential for younger workers getting into the industry. Overall, a good place to work and would recommend to others looking to get into the insurance industry . . . . .

Cons

Pay and bonuses could be increased
