Pros

I had the opportunity to work for a group that was progressive and growing. There were many chances to advance my career and take on new challenges. Management was supportive of training and development and was generous with tuition reimbursement. I was rewarded and recognized for hard work. The benefits and salary were more than competitive.

Cons

Marsh as a whole was actively reducing expenses, but lost focus on generating revenue. The focus on expense reduction hindered investment in growth areas of the business. The brokerage side of the business is having difficulty taking advantage of technology to improve operational efficiency. The organization is not progressive and resists change.

Pros

If you want to work 9-5, MMC offers a great work/life balance. If you're not that motivated and just want to collect a paycheck, MMC is the place to be.

Cons

There are so many people working there that no one knows what anyone else does. You can literally do practically nothing and no one will know. Completely unmotivating environment--- imagine "The Office"-- cubicles, non-descript design, bland, boring, completely stale but then again, it is insurance.

Pros

It is the flagship company of MMC - the parent company. Aside from that, can't think of any other reason why I would want to work for the company. Some of the people that work there are nice, but it would be better if the company were more diversified and structured

Cons

The company is not very accepting of minorities, particularly blacks. The ration is something like 1:50. Very hard to find a lot of minorities in office positions. Also not very accepting or considerate of working mothers. You create your own career advancement. There is no structure surrounding that. The company o is also going through a lot of senior management changes and organizational changes. You have to be a fast learner and find your way around issues. A lot of help is not given to help you to understand how the company works. Very individualized, an every man for himself spirit exists there. You also have to know the right people to get promoted.
