      Not a good place for young people to develop their careers

      Pros

      Dynamic environment with lot of knowledge about wholesale and retail industry, learning curve is very good, very nice and helpful colleagues on the same organizational level

      Cons

      Unclear company strategy, low salary and wage increases as per industry standards, not open to change, long hours of overtime and no overtime payment, tight deadlines and so many ad-hoc requests, bad top management, focused on short term goals, poor work-life balance, poor appraisal process, not enough attention to talents attraction, no respect for individuals, employees are treated as an expense or a liability and not as an asset

      A great German group with a poor indian management

      Very strong processes, Learning curve is very good, High exposure to almost everything about retail

      Cons

      Horrible management at top, No clear vision , short term goals, Too many generalists, not even a single expert, Complicated processes (has been made so), Forget about work life balance, Very casual and little analysation before taking decisions, No respect for Hard work, bad politics, very low salary as per industry, Poor appraisal process. Lot of Negatives about the company. Company belongs to a successful German group but is trying to copy a FAILED American model.

      Pros

      I was a full time employee and enjoyed working with METRO until the new MD Arvind Mediratta joined and ruined the company. He has brought it to its knees and every one is living in fear of losing their jobs. He does not know his mind, has no strong business knowledge and is bringing in his own people who can lick his boots. He is full of himself and likes sycophancy. Does not take advice or constructive feedback, has made it a really bad place to work.

      Cons

      You have to be a favourite of the MD or one of his followers to be able to hold your job He is a horrible person, worse than a poisonous snake, insecure and fears his own job and position. His management cannot stand up to him as he does not appreciate any negative feedback. he says something in front of you and does something behind your back.
