Pros

The best reasons would be the career mobility, being able to work in many industries within the same company and being able to work all over the country/world. The pay and benefits are reasonably good. I am happy with my level of responsibility and rate of promotion.

Cons

The upper management is very very removed from the "worker bees". There are many layers of management and it is possible to get lost in the crowd. Your direct manager makes a big difference in the quality of job you end up with. If they are stickler for all of the corporate policies the job might become unbearable. I am in the fortunate position to have a manager that understands how important the people are.

Pros

Lockheed Martin is a vast organization with offices across the U.S. and overseas. The breadth of career fields employed by Lockheed Martin makes it a great company to begin working for. Additionally, as a prime contractor on many programs, programatic control is often easier than many other contractors. Many interesting projects may be found by working at Lockheed Martin.

Cons

Lockheed Martin is a vast organization. Due to compliance issues and the fear of legal action, often standing out is difficult. In order to progress quickly in your career, you must be quite ambitious.

Pros

It is relatively easy to transfer within the company and there always seems to be a good number of job opportunities available across the country. You also get a good sense of strong corporate ethics.

Cons

The healthcare plans and benefits in general seem to be on a relative decline over the past couple of years. The number of choices for healthcare options have been decreased and bonuses seem to be a rarity. Senior Business Unit Management is prone to making knee-jerk decisions regarding factors that have significant influence over workplace morale (elimination of overtime and casual Fridays). It can also be difficult to find a sense of identity in such an overwhelmingly large company.
