Pros

The best reasons would be the career mobility, being able to work in many industries within the same company and being able to work all over the country/world. The pay and benefits are reasonably good. I am happy with my level of responsibility and rate of promotion.

Cons

The upper management is very very removed from the "worker bees". There are many layers of management and it is possible to get lost in the crowd. Your direct manager makes a big difference in the quality of job you end up with. If they are stickler for all of the corporate policies the job might become unbearable. I am in the fortunate position to have a manager that understands how important the people are.

Pros

Working on projects that you won't find anywhere else in the world. From working on small time stuff such as internal Lockheed Martin projects to working on the space shuttle or supporting the Aegis missile system there's absolutely something for everyone at LM.

Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy as with any other large Fortune 100 organization. Also, most management either does not have a degree or they have it from Phoenix/Strayer. Feedback is also only given once a year so you never know when you are doing a good job or bad job, especially as the normal feedback is minimal.

Pros

If they have a contract and you are needed you might have a job until the budget is blown.

Cons

When the contract is up or you are too expensive that is it. People are fired every week. They require LOTS of FREE overtime. They prefer a cheap new grad who works lots of overtime. The schedule means nothing. Most of the budget is blown by Managers. The tiny tiny part of the budget is given to the unimportant tasks done by Engineers.
