I got to do hands-on research that I would otherwise need a higher degree for. I also made a ton of connections throughout the lab. The work atmosphere is pretty laid back, but that just depends on your research group.

Cons

Not really any cons. It's pretty hilly but that makes for a good workout!

Great place to start your career. Lots of activities to enjoy in the area, beside your work

The actual salary is not too bad but due to the high living-cost and housing price in Bay area, your financial situation will be tough
