      Coworkers are very friendly, helpful, and respectful. The location is beautiful and the weather is consistently pleasant. There is a lot of interesting research being conducted on the premises.

      world class lab engaged in the most advance scientific researches that help to make the world a better place literally. good benefits and beautiful environment. good people.

      because the lab is primarily funded by the federal government, inefficiency can be a problem and some organization's management style can be improved

      Pros

      You get a fair bit of freedom, the campus is pretty, access to seminars and smart people

      Cons

      living on soft money is painful. In my field (applied energy sciences), the funders fund uninspiring work and micromanage projects. It's not LBNL's fault, but the whole environment stifles creativity.
